Prospects and lists

Before a lead becomes a deal, they're a prospect. Mantle Sales helps you organize and qualify potential customers so you know when they're ready for active sales engagement.

Understanding prospects

A prospect in Mantle is any potential customer—either an existing customer in your system or a contact you've added. The Prospects view helps you:

  • See all potential customers in one place
  • Filter and segment based on characteristics
  • Organize prospects into lists for targeted outreach
  • Convert qualified prospects to deals

The prospects page

Go to Sales → Prospects to see your prospect list. This view shows:

  • Customer/contact name
  • Company information
  • Source and tags
  • Last activity

Filtering prospects

Use filters to find specific prospects:

Filter Description
Source Where the prospect came from
Type Customer or contact
Tags Tags you've applied to prospects
Search Search by name or company

Converting prospects to deals

When a prospect is qualified and ready for active sales engagement, convert them to a deal:

  1. Find the prospect in the list
  2. Click the actions menu (three dots)
  3. Select Create deal
  4. Fill in deal details and save

The prospect's information is carried over to the new deal, including customer association and contact details.

Sales lists

Lists let you organize prospects and customers into groups for targeted actions. Use lists to:

  • Group prospects by qualification level
  • Segment customers for campaigns
  • Track accounts for specific initiatives
  • Organize leads by team member

Creating a list

To create a new list:

  1. Go to Sales → Lists
  2. Click Create list
  3. Enter a name for the list
  4. Save the list

Lists start empty. Add members from the prospects page or customer profiles.

Adding members to a list

There are several ways to add prospects to a list:

From the prospects page

  1. Select one or more prospects using the checkboxes
  2. Click Add to list in the bulk actions bar
  3. Choose the list or create a new one

From a customer profile

  1. Open the customer's profile
  2. Click Add to list in the actions menu
  3. Select the target list

From the list detail page

  1. Open the list
  2. Click Add members
  3. Search for and select prospects to add

Managing list members

On the list detail page, you can:

  • View all members with their key information
  • Remove individual members
  • Bulk remove multiple members
  • Filter the list by name or characteristics

Removing members from a list

To remove prospects from a list:

  1. Go to the list detail page
  2. Select the members to remove
  3. Click Remove from list

Removing a prospect from a list doesn't delete them—they're still available in the prospects view and can be added to other lists.

Working with prospects and deals

Prospects vs. deals

It's important to understand when to use each:

  • Prospects – Use for early-stage potential customers you're still qualifying. No active sales engagement yet.
  • Deals – Use when there's an active sales opportunity with a potential close date and deal value.

A prospect can exist without a deal, and you might have multiple deals for the same customer over time.

Automatic prospect classification

When you set up Mantle Sales, you can automatically classify existing customers as prospects. This gives you a starting pipeline without manual data entry.

During onboarding, choose:

  • Automatically classify customers – Mantle analyzes your customer base and identifies sales opportunities
  • Import from CRM – Bring in prospects from HubSpot or Salesforce

List best practices

Keep lists focused

Create lists with a clear purpose. "Q1 Outbound Targets" is more useful than "Prospects".

Review lists regularly

Lists can become stale. Schedule time to review and update your lists, removing converted or disqualified prospects.

Use lists for campaigns

Lists work well with Mantle Flows. Create a list of targets, then build a flow to automate outreach to that list.

Combine with segments

Lists are manual collections. For dynamic groupings based on customer attributes, use Segments instead.

Opportunities view

The Opportunities page (Sales → Opportunities) shows all active deals at the Lead and Deal stages. This is a quick way to see your active pipeline without the full board view.

Use the opportunities view to:

  • See a table of all active deals
  • Sort by deal value, age, or stage
  • Quickly filter to specific deal flows
  • Export opportunity data
